We are looking for an experienced writer who is passionate about challenging and supporting school leaders to

Our program, Portico, is an online community for school leaders committed to revolutionizing learning engagement, connections with educators, and life readiness for every student. For this community to grow and thrive, we need a Content Manager to create relevant resources and share stories within the Portico community. The person in this role will create innovative content that reflects diverse experiences, communicates and connects new perspectives and approaches that empower leaders to transform their schools. The Content Manager will take the lead on brainstorming ideas, creating concepts, and developing messaging for Portico in a variety of media including print, web, mobile, video, and social media.

 

Essential Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

1.     Three years or more of successful experience of professional writing for marketing and/or educational purposes with a solid portfolio of work. Must be able to write in clear, concise, and persuasive ways to multiple audiences.

2.     Experience creating content for WordPress websites, newsletters sent through Hubspot, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.

3.     Specific strategies/resources and networks for creating messaging that targets or represents a diversity of experiences, including traditionally underrepresented communities.

4.     Demonstrated commitment to advancing audience awareness and engagement in issues related to equity and inclusion.

5.     Listen for and elevate the voices whose stories need to be heard, intuitively connecting to what will inspire and resonate for school leaders in our community.

  

Essential Functions

What you should show up ready to do on your first day:

●      Be able to vary writing style to connect with different audiences within K-12 communities such as district and school leaders.

●      Identify new and trending resources/research that speak specifically to issues of equity, diverse representation and voices, and transformational leadership.

Within your first three months, you will be successful if you:

●      Work closely with the Portico Director and Director of Partnerships to better understand the foundational concepts and marketing strategies of Portico. Provide content for the Portico community, including marketing and sales materials on regular basis.

●      Work collaboratively to help develop systems capable of sustaining and scaling resources for program growth.

●      Collaborate with the content development team to develop a content marketing strategy and effectively execute the first phase.

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

●     Write engaging content focused on educational leadership, educational equity, student access, and engagement for blogs, websites, paid media, landing pages, social media, and more.

●     Create materials that speak to the experience of a diverse range of people and teams.

●     Capture and reflect diverse perspectives when writing to increase awareness and in opportunities to specifically engage communities of color.

●     Create, manage, monitor, and ensure quality control for social media content.

●     Research and understand the needs of Portico’s target audiences, primarily school and district leaders (i.e., online searches, reviews of existing research, interviews with subject matter experts, and through collaboration with Portico leadership).

●     Create and manage editorial calendars.

●     Create and distribute newsletters, maintain segmented audience lists, and report on metrics.

●     Identify content that will meet program goals for SEO and content engagement using Google Analytics and other analytic tools to help inform strategic content decisions.

●     Maintain up-to-date knowledge of communication and client-related industry trends.

●     Adhere to brand voice and style, and comfortably adjust as needed for different channels and target audiences.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

●     Experience representing diverse audiences including traditionally underrepresented populations.

●     Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, marketing or related discipline preferred.

●     3-5 years of social media experience with a solid portfolio of work.

●     3-5 years professional copywriting experience.

●     Experience in short-form, long-form, and search-engine-optimized content.

●     Experience in paid media is a plus.

●     Knowledge of SEO best practices and how to write SEO-friendly content.

●     Engaged on various social media platforms including analytics and comfortable being an active participant and contributor in social media conversations.

●     Proficiency in Google Workspace (docs, spreadsheets, forms, and slides) and Adobe Acrobat Pro.

●     Experience working with WordPress and Hubspot is a plus.

●     Experience with Adobe InDesign or Illustrator is a plus.

●     Familiarity with or experience in the education system is a plus.

What We Offer

Inflexion wages are based on a nonprofit market-based compensation scale, with the annual starting salary for this exempt position ranging from $69,291 to $73,549. Inflexion offers a highly competitive benefits package currently including medical, dental, vision, life, 403(b) retirement plan that incorporates base and matching employer contributions, pretax medical flexible-spending, dependent care, pretax transportation, 15 hours vacation per month, and 10 paid holidays per year.
